The Grand Eastern Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Modeling (BPM) Career Fair 2023 successfully took place at the Main Auditorium of the Oluvil Campus, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL), today (31-05-2023). This significant event, conducted by SLASSCOM in collaboration with SEUSL, promises to be the largest career fair of its kind, bringing together leading tech organizations and aspiring talent in our country. More than 1000 students have participated at the IT Career Fair throughout the day. Hope that they may have found some future prospects at the Career Fair.

The career fair commenced with an address by the Chief Guest, Professor A. Rameez, the Vice Chancellor of SEUSL, and introductory remarks by Mr. Ashique Ali, Chairman of SLASSCOM. Distinguished attendees included deans of faculties, heads of departments, professors, academics, and administrators, all gracing the occasion.

Leading tech organizations stepped forward to support and fuel the growth of the IT and BPM industry in our nation as sponsors of this event. The companies that extended their fullest cooperation and support include SimCentric Technologies, Axiata Digital Labs, HSenid Axcenze, HCL Tech, Topjobs, Dialog, LSEG, and other sponsors, including the generous support of the Norwegian Embassy. Their dedication and commitment have made this event possible, providing a platform for countless opportunities and opening doors to fulfilling careers in the IT and BPM sector.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor highlighted several crucial points. This career fair serves as a remarkable platform for computer, IT, and business-based students and professionals who may not have had such an opportunity before. Historically, similar events were mostly accessible to individuals in metropolitan areas like Colombo. However, this career fair aims to extend opportunities to individuals from the Eastern region, enabling them to explore different possibilities in these fields.

To all the IT professionals, graduates, and undergraduates gathered here, SEUSL encourages its staff and students to seize this extraordinary chance to showcase their talents and skills. This career fair serves as an encouragement, guiding students towards their dream jobs. It is a place where innovation meets opportunity, allowing students to connect with industry leaders and envision a future filled with growth and success.

Throughout this event, students have the opportunity to engage with representatives from a wide range of organizations, gaining insights into the latest trends, technologies, and career pathways in the IT and BPM industry. They are urged to make the most of this invaluable platform to network, learn, and demonstrate their potential. Let their talents shine and seize the countless opportunities that await them. The Vice Chancellor also expressed a particular encouragement for students from the Humanities and Social Sciences stream to participate. Numerous studies have shown an increased focus on involving students in the field of IT and machine learning. Even these studies prioritize the involvement of students in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is hoped that this career fair will open doors for students from various disciplines.
