Country's first Faculty of Technology ceremonially inaugurated at SEUSL


The first Faculty of Technology in the country established at South Eastern University of Sri Lanka was ceremonially inaugurated its ?academic session on Tuesday with Vice Chancellor Prof. MMM Najim as C hief Guest.

The Faculty has enrolled 160 students from various parts of the Island under two Degree courses with 70 males and 9 femaled. The first group inclusive of 85 students would be admitted to the Agricultural Technology Degree Course while the second group inclusive of 75 students will be admitted to the Information and Communication Technology. The inauguration ceremony presided over by the Acting Dean Dr.MGM Thariq was attended by the Act.Registrar MI Nawfer, Librarian MM Rifaudeen, Act. Bursar KLM nazeer,Deans of the Faculties , Senior Asst. Registrars, Heads of Departments, Asst. Registrars and other Lecturing Staff of the Faculty.

Speaking at the ceremony Vice Chancellor Najim welcomed the new badge of students whom he described as pioneers of the Faculty and said they are free from riggings or any other forms of harassments as they don't have any seniors. He said that this is one of the beautiful Universities of Sri Lanka which has been located in a very beautiful environment with sea on the East, enchanting river on the North, coconut plantations on the South and paddy fields on the West. Above all a very a conducive atmosphere prevails here for once enhancing his or her education. So, the students who came here should concentrate on their studies. One may have many objectives in coming to Universities, but their prime objective should be education and enhancing their academicals aspects in order to fulfill their parent's expectations and aspirations.

Prof. Najim also said that this Faculty is a big boon to the students who are eager to enhance their knowledge in technology and foster innovation, creativity and focusing on research in technology and product development. The students determine to fulfill our objective to produce high quality employable graduate in technology equipped to pursue a career in academia, government, industry or as an entrepreneur locally and globally, so one could ensure their job assurance, he said.
