In order to produce students with Sri Lanka's need and aspirations the Faculty of Technology of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka has been formulating a Mechanism to provide them with the necessary skills, technical education and practical theories to face the challenge of present job market.
The inaugural meeting of Industry Consultative Committee of the Faculty of Technology of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka was held at South Eastern University's Academic Program Centre in Mt. Lavinia on recently under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. MMM Najim.
Academics of the Faculty of Technology headed by its Dean Dr. MG Mohamed Thariq, University Grant Commission's Co-Ordinator for Technology Stream Dr.TA Piyasiri, Chief Executive Officers and Heads of leading Companies and Firms were present at this Consultative Committee meeting to discuss this matter in a very wider manner.
Dean Dr.Tharique in his welcome address briefed the purpose of the meeting and what is expected from the seminar.
Head, Department Bio-Systems Technology Dr. BGN Sewwandi gave an introduction to Bio-Systems Technology Degree Program (BBST) and Head, Department of Information and Communication SL Abdul Hameem outlined "Information and communication Technology Degree Program (BICT) by power point presentation.
Addressing further Vice Chancellor Prof.Najim said that the traditional methods of producing merely Graduates alone for the name sake and aggravating the situation of unemployment problems would be erased off by this scheme. This would also bring a halt to carrying slogans and picketing and anti-propaganda activities by the unemployed graduates against the Government. This is the need of the time and we all must work constructively for the success of the implementation of the program, he said.
At the conclusion of the program a group work of BBST Program and BICT Program were also held at length.
