"The Cultural Centre that was opened here today should always function with activities of vigour and vitality concentrating on research programmes of current issues paving the way for enhancing the knowledge of the student community and updating contemporary issues. Then only the purpose of the Centre would be fulfilled and all could be benefited"
So said the State Minister of Rehabilitation and Resttlement MLAM Hizbullah after handing over the keys of the Cultural Centre on Friday after accomplishing Jummah Prayers at the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Prof. MMM Najim attended by Religious Dignitaries, Acting Registrar MIM Nowfer, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language As Sheikh SMM Mazahir, Deans, Heads of Departments, Senior Lecturers and other academics.
The Cultural Centre with all ameneties was a gift of a Phyilanthropist of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia spening millions of rupees, was opened for prayers during the month of Ramazan in ther presence of donater's son and many other Saudies.
After handing over the the keys of the Cultural Centre to Dean As Sheikh Mazahir, State Minister Hizbullah said that seminars, workshops, discussions and other useful lectutures must take place in these Centre on and off, so that the Centre would be hive of activity all the times. He also added that research actvities should be given pride of place in the Centre and sudents should always see that they are engaged in this activity and make the maximum benefit out of this Centre. In conclusion State Minister Hizbullah thanked those who contributed to complete this project successfully.The Saudi Philanthrophist who made his donation to this project should ever be remembered by us. He said his grateful thanks are due to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Najim, Former Dean As-Sheikh ABM Aliyar, present Dean As-sheikh SMM Mazahir and former Vice Chancellor Dr.SMM Ismail and to the Contractor who played a major role in constructing this Centre with an attractive architect value.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Najim in his address thanked State Minister HIzbullah, the prime mover of this project for all his genuine efforts to a worthy venture and wanted the students' community to make the maximum benefit out of this.
At the conclusion of the ceremony Vice Chancellor Prof Najim presented a memento to the State Minister Hizbullah as a mark of remembrance of the day.
