The Mission of the PGDAS Programme The mission of the PGDAS is to provide quality education, knowledge and skills in the field of Applied Statistics that will enable graduates, workers, officers and researchers to succeed their present career and the future development.


Objectives
Objective of the PGDAS Programme To provides an intellectually challenging postgraduate programme in the theory and practice of Statistical Science and trains personnel to become academics, researchers or experts in industry, agriculture, research or finance sector. At the completion of this programme the students would be able to undertake the following:

  • Explain the concepts and properties of probability theory and statistics.
  • Use standard methods in statistical inference for analyzing data and interpret the results.
  • Explain the concepts in Statistical Simulation, Survey Sampling, Statistical Quality Control, Design and Analysis of Experiments, Multivariate Methods, Nonparametric Data Analysis, Categorical and Binary Data Analysis, Regression Analysis, Time Series Analysis, Biostatistics and use Statistical Packages SPSS, MINITAB, EViews and R for data analysis and their applications in the real-life data.
  • Analyze practical data available in research, industry and other important sources through project work or case studies, seminar and present findings and write technical reports.
