ABOUT PRAVAHAM JOURNAL

Pravaham Journal is a biannual international research journal published by the Department of Languages of the Faculty of Arts and Culture of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka. It is a refereed journal that publishes original research papers within the scope of languages, literature, cultural studies and translation. It’s main aim is to give a platform for academics and budding researchers to share their findings and thought-provoking insights in the respective field to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and social change. It also endorses an open-access policy in order to facilitate accessibility.


MISSION

  • To provide a platform for researchers to publish their original manuscripts within the scope.
  • To encourage social change and responsibility through research.
  • To facilitate a trilingual research culture.

  • REVIEW PROCESS

    All the manuscripts submitted to Pravaham journal are subject to a blind peer-review by an expert in the respective field. The editor will handle submissions and in consultation with the reviewer/s, ensure the academic merits of the submitted manuscripts. The review process will take around 2 to 3 months.

    PUBLICATION FREQUENCY

  • Only manuscripts meeting high standards can be published.
  • Editor/s in chief will evaluate the merits of the papers before sending them to the reviewers.
  • Articles can be accepted between January to March and July to September for volume 1 and volume 2 respectively.
  • The review process will take two to three months.

  • PLAGIARISM AND MALPRACTICES

  • Any papers found to be plagiarized will be rejected at the desk review.
  • The submitted articles should not be published elsewhere or is under consideration in another journal.
  • Research originating from a particular institution should be submitted with the approval of that institution.
  • Ethical clearance needs to be obtained where necessary.

  • AUTHOR GUIDELINES

    Authors should strictly adhere to the author guidelines. Editor has the discretion to reject the paper if the structure of the paper does not meet the guidelines. Manuscripts must be set out in the following order – Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords, Main text under sub-headings including Figure Captions, Figures, and then Tables, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, Appendix, and References. Manuscripts can be in Sinhala, Tamil, English, and Arabic.

    TITLE PAGE

  • Title of the article (14 font size)
  • Full name(s) of the author(s) (10 font size)
  • The affiliation(s) including department, institution, and country (10 font size)
  • Active e-mail address of the corresponding author (10 font size)
  • Abstract (10 font size)
  • Key words (10 font size)

  • ABSTRACT

  • Abstract should be in single paragraph with 200 to 250 words without any citation.
  • It should be appeared in 10 font size and single line space.
  • It should clearly and concisely demonstrate the research objective, methods findings of the study and conclusion.


  • KEY WORDS

    Please give 4 or 5 key words in alphabetic order by using italic format. (avoid words like 'and' & 'of').

    TEXT FORMATTING

    The full research article/ manuscript should consist of the major elements, namely: Introduction/ background, problem statement, objective(s), methodology, literature survey, results and discussion, conclusion and references.

    FONT

  • Sinhala in FMAbhaya font
  • Tamil in akarathi font
  • English in Times New Roman font
  • Arabic in Traditional Arabic font
  • All subtopics should be bold and in 12 font size.
  • All text in 11 font size.
  • Line space – 1.5

  • REFERENCES

    APA 7th edition should be used to reference. All references should be ordered in alphabetically.

    WORD LIMITS

    A manuscript should be around 4000 to 5000 words and not exceed 6000 words including references and endnotes.

    SUBMISSION

    Submission of a manuscript considers the following:

  • The manuscript has not been published before.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration for publication anywhere else.
  • If any co-authors are, the manuscript has been approved by all of them.
  • Completed manuscript should ensure the above instructions for authors.
  • Original manuscripts should be submitted electronically (as MS Word docx) to the following email ID: piravaham@seu.ac.lk
  • Peer reviewing usually takes from 2 to 4 months.
