Inauguration of the 6th Batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM and Master of Business Administration (MBA)held successfully

Said Batticaloa District Secretary PSM Charles in her key note address at the ceremonial Inauguration of the 6th Batch of Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM and Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Faculty of Management and Commerce, South Eastern University of Sri Lanka.
The ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language on Saturday where the Vice Chancellor Prof. MMM Najim participated as Chief Guest.
The program began with the welcome address of Dean of the Faculty of Management and Commerce Dr. S.Gunapalan while Co-Ordinator Post Graduate Unit Dr. A. Jahufar briefly outlined the Post Graduate Programme. Continuing further Charles said " Most MBA programmes include a "core" curriculum of subjects, such as accounting, economics, marketing and operations as well as elective courses that allow participants to follow their own personal professional interests. Some Schools require that MBA candidates complete an internship at a company or organization, which can lead to concrete job opportunities after the program. There are several advantages of doing an MBA.
Detailing the better career opportunities District Secretary said that the advantage of an MBA degree goes hand in hand with the first one and it is actually the cause of the first one. Graduate of an MBA programme have , due to their qualification, higher chances of obtaining and holding a high level management position. It is estimated that 70% of the MBA graduates worldwide are senior managers or Board Directors. This type of position brings along a higher salary bit of course also a higher responsibility and longer working hour. Whether you wish to further your current career by advancing leadership position on you want to pursue a new career, an MBA is definitely going to boost your chances of achieving these goals.
During her lengthy address she also touched on the areas of better consolidated business net work, new skill and knowledge acquisition, a holistic perspective on the business world and starting your own business. In conclusion District Secretary Charles outlined that MBA is currently the most popular professional degree program in the world. Today there are over 2500 MBA programs offered worldwide; most are offered in English. First introduced Universities in the United States around the turn of the 20th century, MBA programs have evolved to keep with the demands of the times. Hence, she appealed to all who have come here to follow the MBA and PGDM Course should understand this very clearly and continue this program.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Najim in his address said that time management, dedication and determination is very much essential to a student to follow this courses. Hence, I advise you all to dedicate in your studies. Senior Lecturer Dr. (Mrs) F.H.Abdul Rauf proposed the vote of thanks.
